NEW YORK, Dec 08, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Platinum Guild International, the worldwide marketing arm for Platinum jewelry, and GroomGroove.com, the leading engagement and wedding web site for men, today announced the winner of the first "Platinum Marriage Proposal Story" contest. Sean Palmgren and his fiancee Betsey Krause from Minneapolis, Minnesota win two platinum wedding bands courtesy of Novell Design Studio.
Palmgren recounts: "I spelled the letters of 'Will You Marry Me' on the tops of 20 umbrellas. I took Betsey to a park on a sunny day, where she spotted people holding the umbrellas. She didn't know they were our friends and family until the umbrellas were lowered, spelling the words. I then proposed with a platinum diamond engagement ring."

The grand prize of two Platinum wedding bands symbolizes the lifelong commitment of two people when entering marriage. Platinum is the strongest and most durable of all precious metals. As a result, it holds the diamond more securely and won't lose its luster over time.
"Sean clearly put a good deal of thought and planning into his proposal," said Mike Arnot, of GroomGroove.com. "The main ingredient was imagination. It shows that guys don't necessarily have to break the bank for a memorable marriage proposal."
Given the valuable grand prize, men from across the country were eager to share the story of their marriage proposal. One common theme was that men often sought the blessing of the marriage from their future in-laws.
Since launching its "Platinum Marriage Proposal Contest," GroomGroove.com has built the most comprehensive marriage proposals archive on the Internet.
